rubydazzler
The base is a hollow. The stem screws into the base. The stem is hollow also. The top again screws off and again hollow. The small section at the top is just a solid screw pieceIf it's a finial how would you fix it into place?
wodger
I have tried using a pole the same diameter as the stem. It will not work. Nor will it stay straight if perched upright on the pole.

wodger
No having a hollow on top it would collect too much water. I may have to visit a brass foundry and ask them if they can let us know what this is.
Uptowngirl
As a matter of interest. The avatar I have placed is a brass item I have come accross recently. It seems that nobody has any idea what this item is. Can anyone enlighten me. It is 12 inches in height. I hope that it is clear to see. Is it a model of the Seattle Space Needle? http://depts.washington.edu/icmpc11/spaceneedle.jpg

wodger
Uptowngirl. It certainly resembles that. But no. It is a complete mystery to me because I have dealt with a lot of brass and antique brass.
