Joanna
This has really been bothering me. When I was young, I used to go to many birthday parties at the now "Prince of wales" pub - the one at Ecclesall, from Bannercross towards Whirlow. It's on the corner of a road - I can't remember the name. Anyway, does anyone know what the pub used to be called in the 80s, I'm sure the work 'Rock' appeared in the name somewhere. max
The Prince of Wales is its real name. It was, for a time, first The Woodstock then The Baltimore Diner.
Joanna
Yes, but I don't remember it being any of those names. Do you know what it was called around 1985? Or maybe, I am totally wrong about it.

Fareast
Joanna , 'Fraid I can't help you , but you're probably right and your memory is probably not deceiving you. I'm sure the P.of W. went through a stage of changing its name pretty frequently, so much so , in fact , you might have a problem finding anyone who can remember them ! Good luck , though ! Hopman
I don't know if anyone lived on the premises at that time, but if so, their entry in the electoral registers might be a good clue.
Fareast
This is a , "stab in the dark " but if it was once called by a couple of American names , could the ,"rock" bit that you remember be connected to ,"Rock Island " ? " Rock Island Diner " , maybe ?
