Nick Clegg, " I don't believe in God"

Recommended Posts

Further proof of Nick Clegg's hypocrisy in this article today;

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/politics/nick-clegg/7611480/Atheist-Nick-Clegg-discovers-religion-in-time-for-polling-day.html

He has regularly written for The Church of England Newspaper and states that Christian values are "central" to his policies, yet he seems strangely quiet in his articles about admitting he doesn't believe in God.

He also not only attended an Anglican church in Surrey on Sunday but he actually read the sermon!

Don't you admire a man with principles?

Probably the most objectionable feature of parliament.

It certainly is objectionable. What would they know about economics et cetera.

They've spent their whole lives with their heads in the clouds praying for

something to happen and begging for eternal life[selfishness].

26 working class atheist would be a better proposition, at least they understand

the pressures of life.

And the OP, any offers.

Yes I'll give you 10p and a who cares.

Does it really matter what Nick Clegg believes in as long as he believes in doing what's best for the country?

I couldn't give a stuff if he worshipped the Octopus King of Jupiter as long as he does his job.

Being an athiest is just by the by.

Nick is polite and amicable but he is quite strait about it, he does not believe

there is a 'caring' God.

Elton John goes to churchly functions, but he would ban organised religion.

Well communists are atheists..arn't they?

And Hitler was a Catholic, so Catholics kill and so do communists.

Tony Blair is a socialist and a Christian he sends armies killing.

Schizophrenia prevails.

I think his open response is a breath of fresh air. Politicians usually tie themselves in knots defensively trying to be all things to all people, so as not to risk alienating any group. He didn't. I think the vast majority of voters are mature enough to not be either put off or unduly attracted by his answer.

I think as long as Clegg is honest and true to his promises-(which unfortunately many politicians are not) then it matters not what he believes in.

There are many leaders who openly believe in a Deity, but have lied, cheated, stolen, murdered(direct or indirect) etc .

So if Clegg is 100% atheist but displays none of the above (and more), I welcome him.
