21 year old Jessie Rose is Manchester’s secret weapon. As the Singer and Guitar-lead frontwoman of her band The Jessie Rose Trip named in homage to her hero’s band The Jimi Hendix Experience, together they make a musical statement that’s as loud and proud as Jessie’s pillar-box red hair and Biba-inspired fashion sense.

With true northern soul and panache, Jessie writes her own material and plays her own instruments - including her trusty ukulele – and cites everyone from Billie Holiday to John Frusciante as influences. “I’ve been brought up on soul music, 60s Motown, northern soul, 30s/40s jazz… stuff like Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, Ray Charles, The Supremes, mind you my dad was a rocker so the love of Hendrix, Led Zep etc came from him.

Following their formation in July 2008, Clint Boon XFM Manchester soon had their demos playing on his daytime show, followed by an invitation to play ITC that year and winning Best Unsigned band. Quite an accolade for a band so very early in their career – this led to invites to play shows inc Eurosonic, London Calling (Amsterdam) and supports with Noisesttes & Charlie Winston in France and other European festivals which was perfect for the band’s development.

They released their debut single in 2009 ‘Forever and a Day’ produced by Jon Kelly (Kate Bush, Tori Amos) a reggae-tinged stomper and immediately was supported nationally at Radio inc, amongst others Radio1 & 2 6Music, XFM and Steven Van Zandt’s New York’s radio show; Little Steven’s Underground Garage (syndicated to 200 stations across USA/Canada) alongside much media and industry interest including articles and reviews in The Times, The Guardian, NME, Music Week, BBC TV online.

Following the Single the band then won a Recording Trip to LA at the Legendary ‘Village Recorder Studios’ courtesy of John Kennedy’s X-Posure show and last October following their showcase at CMJ New York the band flew down to LA and recorded several tracks including the new single ‘You Won’t Forget Me Boy’

The Jessie Rose Trip have fused the acclaimed jazz influences of their early sound with a very spacious, sharp modern pop feel. Their new single ‘You Won’t Forget Me Boy’, which launches Garden Records, follows those much lauded performances across the UK & Europe, New York’s CMJ music festival and live radio sessions including Mark Lamarr’s Radio 2 show from the BBC Maida Vale studios and as Music Week posted, “their soulful, powerful vocals, idiosyncratic and highly original music, and fantastic dress sense spit star power.”

Coupled with Jessie’s incredible vocals and guitar playing she leads their most versatile, charismatic and popful single to date, showing inspirations from Jimi Hendrix to The Doors, with a twist of Motown into their own unique performing style - 2010 now beckons for this truly international unique act.
