Gods never care anyhow!

Recommended Posts

All you lot are doing is going on a God bashing spree when you don't believe in God. That seems hypocritical to me, but anyway I will play along. Someone mentioned the Bengal delta which is very fertile but equally it is prone to flooding. Fishing is the main source of food but equally good crops can be grown there. Why can't the crops can't be taken to higher ground seeing as it lies in the foothills of the Himalayas?

Grahame, Grahame, Grahame again your grasp of reality is shown to be somewhat lacking. How can an atheist go on bashing spree against God when an atheist doesn't believe in God. :loopy:

What atheists bash are people of your ilk who due to your belief in some sky pixie believe that:

Deuteronomy 22:28-29 NLT: If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.

Thanks, Grahame, I'd never thought of that. Silly people. :|

But why can't Jesus prevent these disasters after all he said:

Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst. Matthew 18:19-20

Was he lying?

Come of Grahame get together with a mate and pray. :hihi:

No - he comitted the act (and I'll scream if anyone says there are two 'm's' in comitted) and then asked god to forgive him. Sorted.

Oh dear I think I'm in trouble:

They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. 2 Chronicles 15:12-13

 Here's your answer Grahame ....

The Ganges Delta (also Sunderban Delta or the Bengal Delta) is a river delta in the South Asia region of Bengal, consisting of Bangladesh and the state of West Bengal, India. It is the world's largest delta, and empties into the Bay of Bengal. It is also one of the most fertile regions in the world, thus earning the nickname The Green Delta. The delta, also known as the Ganges-Brahmaputra Delta, stretches from the Hooghly River on the west to the Meghna River on the east. It is approximately 350 km (220 mi) across at the Bay of Bengal. Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) and Haldia in India and Mongla in Bangladesh are the principal seaports on the delta.

Between 125 and 143 million people live on the delta, despite risks from floods caused by monsoons, heavy runoff from the melting snows of the Himalayas, and tropical cyclones. A large part of the nation of Bangladesh lies in the Ganges Delta, and many of the country's people depend on the delta for survival.

It is believed that upwards of 300 million people are supported by the Ganges Delta, and approximately 400 million people live in the Ganges River Basin, making it the most populous river basin in the world. Most of the Ganges Delta has a population density of more than 200 people per km2 (520 people per square mile), making it one of the most densely populated regions on earth.

So Grahame, do you still suggest that 400 million people should decamp to the foothills of the Himalayas? Sounds totally unrealistic to me! :loopy:

Grahame - we are debating the topic "Gods never care anyhow!". Everyone is free to join in this discussion whether they are believers or non-believers.

If the topic and the discussion upsets you, you don't have to post. If you enter into the debate, then posters, whether believers or non-believers, will debate with you.

I'm still mystified why faith believers don't pray to their god or gods to prevent natural disasters which cause human suffering - yet they pray to their god or gods to alleviate the suffering when a natural disaster occurs.

Doesn't this strike you as odd? It does me.
