EccleRd22
Clubbed to the Limit A reunion club night celebrating one of the city’s most legendary nightclubs and music venues takes place at Wellington Street’s Casbah in Sheffield this Saturday (May 1). The Limit – complete with former DJ Paul Unwin – is set to wind back the clock to the heady days of the venue that celebrates the twentieth anniversary of its closure next year. Renewed interest in the former West Street venue comes on the back of Neil Anderson’s ‘Take It To The Limit’ book which chronicles the life of the club famous for gigs spanning everyone from U2 to Siouxsie and the Banshees. The book’s launch party in November last year attracted a crowd of over 700 with members of Sheffield bands Pulp, Human League, Vice Versa/ABC, Artery, Stunt Kites, The Extras and The Push in attendance. The book has gone on to be a local best seller. Neil Anderson said: “November’s event was truly awesome – a queue had formed before the doors even opened at 9pm and one couple had travelled all the way from Spain to be there. The reaction was that amazing we decided to do it again.” The Limit is also set to feature in Neil Anderson’s forthcoming ‘Dirty Stop Out’s Guide to 1970s Sheffield’ book alongside scores of other night spots including Club Fiesta, Crazy Daizy and The Penthouse. Tickets for The Limit event can be purchased from Plug box office, Bath Hotel, The Washington and The Casbah priced £10 each. Tickets will also be available on the door. The event lasts from 10pm until 3am. More information from http://www.takeittothelimit.info
