Grandad.Malky
If they are let me know I have bags full of them early sixpences are supposed to be worth something because of the silver content but even then I don’t thing its would be that much. hillsbro
..anyway are the above coins worth owt or nowt? Not a lot, in such worn condition. You see them at car boot sales priced at 25p each or so. Certain dates are worth more - e.g. 1950 penny, 1946 or 1949 threepence, 1952 sixpence. Here are a couple of eBay links to similar coins: 1943 threepence George V pennies. I think a pre 1920 sixpence is worth about 30p as bullion, not exactly a fortune.
OwlsChick
I have a victorian coin dated 1875 but it has an hole in it as its been worn on a chain...dont know if thats worth anything?
jmdee
Generally, unless exceptionally rare, old coins are worth the base metal value only. I have a 1776 cartwheel (penny) it's worth about 10p. In uncirculated, or near, condition of course the value would be quite different.
LaurelCanyon
I think a pre 1920 sixpence is worth about 30p as bullion, not exactly a fortune. True but that is 12 times face value, on my advice my father collected roughly £400 in pre 1947 silver(some of it pre 1920) in the late 60s, think of the bullion content today, sadly my thieving cousin who they'd brought up from the age of 12 stole it and took it to a bullion dealer. My late father-in-law took out a window frame in an old house that they were renovating, he came across about a dozen Cartwheel half pennys one of which we've still got.
