David Whincup, Photographer

Does anyone know if David Whincup is still working as a photographer, or if not has anyone taken over his business?

He took my wedding photos outside the Wedding Cake in 1978, and I seem to remember he was fairly young at the time. The pictures have faded over the years and it would be good to get new copies from the original negatives.

The address on the photos is 115 Louth Road, near Endcliffe Park,

the phone number is unobtainable, and he is not in yellow pages or the phone book. Does anyone know him or any contact details please.

Not sure if he is still working as a photographer, havn't seen anything from him for a while, can find out for you though,i know somebody who used to work with him.

Would have thought your negatives will still be archived somewhere,so it should be just a case of getting hold of him,i will see what i can find out for you.

Still trying to find out about mr whincup,he seems to have vanished, some one did tell me he had been ill and had to retire, someone even told me they heard he'd past away!

If a photographer is closing down the usual practice is for them to contact old customers and offer to sell them the negatives.

Iwill continue my "investigations" and try to get you a definate answer, i still have a couple more sources.

Thank you for your efforts deano, I still live at the same address as I did when the pictures were taken so I can be certain that no one has tried to contact me with regard to the negatives. Somebody out there must know what happened to Mr Whincup and his business. Perhaps th Sheffield Star can help, do you think?

pete fcs, nice thought to try and improve them, but unfortunately they appear to be too far gone. You can only work with what is there and it seems that time and ultra violet have destroyed parts of the image beyond recovery.

bildeborg, Good lead, tried it myself and managed to open a business directory with a David Whincup listed in Mexborough. No details of the business are given, but there is a phone number, so, unless someone out there tells me its not a photographer I shall be ringing it tomorrow.

Thanks for the suggestions and help

Still trying to get hold of an old photographer who may know about mr whincups whereabouts......having said that someone else told me they heard he'd passed away......someone out there must know.

Am i right in thinking he had a dummy photographer in his shop window that used to flash his camera?

I used to do work for david whincup many years ago,and i work with people who did his work long before me,they may even have printed your wedding pics!!

Only just seen the postings - don't know where David is now but he was a keen clay pigeon shooter formerly at Peak Gun Club at Totley in the late '70's. Many of his friends from that club now shoot at The Fox House on Hathersage Road - if anyone is likely to know his whereabouts, they will. Good luck!
