Gemima
I was talking about this to a friend of mine who has spent far too much time in London to know of such things and she had never heard of this. I know of at least two friends who grandmothers were named after their grandfathers favourite pigeon. My next door neighbour's real name was Irene but her husband always called her "Sadie". My friends grandmother was always referred to as "Peggy" real name was Miriam. This caused a lot of confusion to me as a child and I wondered if anyone else had come across this?
