sweetdexter
I was recently reading about beef and various cuts The US and UK are so different in the naming of beef cuts I remembered as a kid the only part of the cow we did not eat was the lungs. These were used for feeding the cat and were called 'Lights or lites' I don't know what it means or how it originated . Anyone any answers? Bertielil
Lights. From Middle English 'lightes'. I believe so called because the lungs weighed less than other major body organs. Hope this helps.
