New york-best places to eat

Recommended Posts

Has anyone been to NYC recently?

I am staying near Grand Central station, can anyone recommend any good breakfast places, steak houses and somewhere i can get the best new york cheese cake from in midtown manhattan? I know there will be lots of places to eat, but going from recommendations is always a help.

cheers

Comfort Diner on E. 45th street for breakfasts . Five minutes walk from the station.

Also, check out the food market in Grand Central station. It's awesome. For cheesecake try Juniors in the food hall at the station.

This is just off Times Square, next door to the Novotel. Best steak I've had anywhere ever, and good "authentic" atmosphere.

I could happily pitch up a one man tent in their dry-aging room and live out the rest of my days.

There was a famous steakhouse in a strip club, it featured on one of Heston Blumenthal's programmes. Here it is, Striphouse New York, for great beef and titties. :rolleyes:http://www.striphouse.com/

The Spotted Pig is a renowned NY restaurant too: http://thespottedpig.com/

Corection hit the original Juniors in Brooklyn. You might even run into Jay Z or Sean 'P Diddy/Puff Daddy' Combs

Last time I was there we picked up a Zagats guide:

Its rated by everyday people and not professional reviewers.

Peter Lugers is the best place in the city for a steak

Tim Rayner's book - 'man who ate the world', is a great read for anyone who loves food! And from what i've read it is all you need for your NYC eating!

According to Tim, NYC isn't that great for food but maybe you can get an idea of what is what from the book.
