Why are we in a right mess ?

I don't think that the Conservatives will keep to their promises.

That's a pretty safe bet.:hihi:

They represent the wealthy and the wealthy are shielded from the hardship that we are about to endure.

There aren't that many wealthy people in the UK, are there? - If the Conservatives only represent the wealthy, how do they manage to get more than about 2 or 3% of the votes even in a bad year?

...If they get in power, they will screw you.

Another safe bet. :hihi:

They talk the talk because they need votes from ordinary people.

If you work for the Public Sector the nations biggest employer,or are doing OK out of the welfare system, keep voting Labour because they will keep borrowing forever to support you and your vote.If you want common sense and some hard medicine for a while to get the country out of the mire and respectable again vote Tory............THERE IS NO OTHER WAY!

It's the relish with which the Tories will do it that's so unappealing, and yes, you're right the reluctance of Labour to seriously address the problem that makes them so unappealing. The middle way is the right way. Standing up to your friends is even harder than fighting your enemies, but it has to be done for the good of the country. Vince Cable for Chancellor! - supported by anyone who's got the country's interests at heart rather than punishing their old enemies.

Not true. They're trying to get rid of a load of us and let private companies run services and re-employ us at a cheaper wage. Many people have been TUPEd and given a raw deal.

What is 'the middle way'? - Is that 'Say you're going to make cuts then "forget" to do so'?

Forget? Why forget? Lib Dems have been (more) honest about the scale of the problems we face. Perhaps that's why people would rather not vote for them - they'd rather bury their heads in the sand while voting for a party friendly to their vested interests.

If people sell the family silver they should not be surprised when they can't find a knife and fork.

Short-termism is the name of the game. People can't see into next week let alone the next generation. Why should politicians worry about the long term then?
