I1L2T3
They tried to persue a coalition but in the end they couldn't put a realistic one together. And how does this make the Lib-Con one more realistic? Majorities mean nothing if the MPs can't be whipped into line Unless of course you change the constitution to make no confidence votes almost impossible and lock us into a risky Frankenstein government for 5 years
plekhanov
Says who Simon Hughes for one. The fact that the Lib Dems & Labour together wouldn't have had a majority might also have had something to do with it.

Majorities mean nothing if the MPs can't be whipped into line Atleast there's a chance of this one working, even with perfectly effective whipping a Lab/Lib-Dem coalition would sitll have been a minority utterly reliant upon the nationalists & the Tories to get anything done which hardly sounds like a recipe for an effective administration now then does it? Nothing more. After all the government has just done exactly the same thing. This new government seems to behaving quite sensibly at present so let's see what happens.
