Can people in prison vote?

I know its a bit random but I've been thinking about it all day... once we have found an answer... debate!!

I beleive the answer is no they cant..

There's no debate to be had, once you get convicted and come into the hands of the crown you can't vote.

Very true... I wasnt too sure if there was a human rights thing which meant they were allowed to vote!!

Actualy it might not be a bad way to run a country.

 

Get ellected and sent to jail, spend your next five years in a cell and you might actualy think about what's best for the country.

of course prisoners can't vote - but they can stand for office. Bobby Sands is probably the most famous example, but a man called Eugene Debs once ran for President of the United States from a prison cell. He received almost a million votes, 3.5% of the total, in the 1920 Presidential election.
