Police numbers being cut thanks to Labour's budgets

Recommended Posts

Excuses excuses excuses and if excuses don't work point at a government from 20 years ago.

We can always resort to facts - Police numbers increased by 16,000 between 1979 and 1997. They then dropped from 1997 to 2000 before 9/11 and the 'War on Terror' when Blunkett pulled Brown's budget finger out and turned the UK into Paranoia Central.

The only facts that matter are that budgets are being cut now. Police numbers are being cut now.

You can't say that figures from 20 years ago don't matter. Even if there are cuts now, there are still significantly more Police after the cuts than when Labour took power.

I hate politicians who cut police numbers:

Boris Johnson's Conservative administration in London is to cut the number of police officers in the capital, despite him campaigning for election on making crime-fighting his top priority.

Plans in the mayor's budget reveal a cut of 455 officers by the time London hosts the Olympics in 2012.

Critics say it is the first substantial cut in police numbers in the capital since power over policing was devolved in 2000.
