jake
Probably worth saying that there's lots of areas with a couple of miles of the city centre that might fit the bill - and everywhere has a supermarket nearby! My (as everyone's ) subjective take on things- Ecclesall Rd/Hunters Bar is very lively but is a bit more expensive and there's loads of students (which may be good/bad depending on your view). Broomhill is quite well to do & full of Shef Uni students and also not that cheap. Crookes is further up the hill and slightly cheaper than Broomhill but still nice. Walkley & Meersbrook are quite similar in lot of ways - although a few miles apart - they were trad sheffield areas that have had lots of people staying on after finishing uni buying houses there. Nether Edge was once full of students - but house prices put paid to that - it varies between very posh and quite run down. Hillborough & Woodseats are very traditional areas of sheffield - but with good transport links. Sharrow and the area round Bramhall Lane is not that pretty but safe enough and very handy for town & London rd - also a lot more multicultural than most of other areas mentioned. Broomhall used to have a few problems but has been cleaned up a lot over the last 20 years Pitsmoor gets a bad reputation - but its not really deserved - you get a lot more for your cash in terms of house size and its very multicultural. Sharp87
i'd swerve broomhall, it may have cleaned up a bit over the last 20 years but there is a lot of tension there, and many burglaries.
