It's been a while, but we're back with a bang. This one's going to be marvellous - love the Japandroids record.

Noise and scuzz: these are the things awesome new bands are made of. We've been trying to bring these to Sheffield for a long old time, and we got 'em in the end.

Band biog:

Japandroids (JPNDRDS) are a two piece band from Vancouver, BC. This ‘band’ started in 2006 as a creative outlet for the post-teenage angst of Brian King and David Prowse. Originally intended to be a trio, the boys decided to forgo the logistical nightmare of having a ‘lead singer’ and do it themselves. As a consequence, Japandroids were/are/will be one guitar, one set of drums, and two vocalists. They call it garage rock. They don’t care what you call it, as long as it’s not minimal. Japandroids are maximal - a two piece band trying to sound like a five piece band. They released the album 'Post-Nothing' in 2009 to widespread critical acclaim, landing on several Best of 2009 lists.

"This is terminally catchy music played with punk's enthusiasm and velocity, and maybe it's the fact that there's only two dudes in this band that makes you feel like joining in to bash along" - Pitchfork

"Japandroids crank out eardrum-bursting noise rock that takes cues from alt-rock vets such as Hüsker Dü as well as contemporary bands like No Age" - Rolling Stone

"A gale-force riot, a virtual tempest of joyous abandon" - NME

A little info? For the sake of it? Don't mind if I do, thanks very much. Featuring ex-members, collaborators and sometime contributors of Fury of the Headteachers (Sheffield's premier dungarees-sporting bin-rooters), Youthmovies (that band), the Slow Blade (a London gigolo depository if ever I saw one) and the wonk Sinatras (actually sued by the Frank Sinatra society, TAKE THAT THE MAN), LADB are done with all that and are attempting to make what they laughably refer to as 'popular music'. Well. We'll see, eh?
