Vote Lib/Dem Get Tory

Recommended Posts

I just think the face of british politics has changed, all the parties are no longer what they were in their original form. We've entered a new era of british politics, and hopefully its going to be one that will listen to the people and make decisions on what benefits the country and not themselves. It's kind of refreshing after the last bunch.

Quoted for truth.

You're talking to someone with a degree.

Your talking to people that are not prepared to make any effort'

The kind of people that have wrecked this country.

They have no 'bottle'.

Should the 1st one not offset the 2nd one though or do we just keep handing out until a family of 4 with 1 parent who works 15 hours a week has as much disposable income as the family in which 1 parent works 40 hours or more and the other 15 hours or so, because if thats the case that sucks! Socialist nonsense.

ok then what about interest rates the lowest they have ever been, they were about 10% under the tories if memory serves me right and i know which i would prefer to pay

Crap for people with ISA's or those who depend on savings for their income.

I'm a Lib Dem voter and I'm quite chuffed that the party I voted for got into government. It's just a shame that the MP I voted for didn't get in and was beaten by only 160 votes.

The major issues that I considered during this election were ID cards and the constant erosion of civil liberties, a switch to proportional representation using STV and a partial repeal of the Digital Economy Bill.

Both the Conservatives and the Lib Dems have pledged to scrap ID cards and the National Identity Register.

The Lib Dems want PR based on STV, the Tories are willing to consider a referendum, although so far they've only mentioned AV, which is vastly inferior to STV.

The Lib Dems pledged to repeal the sections of the digital economy bill relating to file sharing and net blocking - this may still happen.

None of the alternatives that existed before the count were particularly appealing:

* Lab majority government - worse

* Con majority government - worse

* Majority Lab/Lib coalition led by Labour

* Majority Con/Lib coalition led by Conservatives

* Minority government wouldn't last long - another general election then recurse.

* Lib dem majority - fat chance!

A Labour led coalition would not have scrapped ID cards and would not have repealed the Digital Economy bill. STV possible but unlikely. half out of 3

A Conservative led coalition will scrap ID cards, may repeal the digital economy bill and may achieve some political reform. STV possible but highly unlikely but some political reform such as a fully elected house of lords with PR likely. 1 and three quarters out of 3

Lib/Con is far better than Con/Con.

Pretty much the same as my reasons:)

good if you own your own home though eh

Not if you've paid for it and are on a small income in retirement, relying on savings interest to help pay your bills. Often people have been thrifty (not necessarily well off) but if they worked in private industry they may have little or no pension thanks to the changes in legislation when GB was chancellor.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1531448/Browns-raid-on-pensions-costs-Britain-100-billion.html

About 120,000 people lost part or all of their expected final salary pensions in recent years, as companies struggled with rising deficits.

Quite different to public sector workers, whose pensions have been protected by the same government.

If you own your own home then interest rates are irrelevant.
