metalman
As a confirmed scruffbag, I'll wear anything - doesn't matter if it's 30 years old and full of holes as far as I'm concerned. I'm guessing I've blown my chance with Fantasia there.

bendyman
When we go out to a restaurant my OH likes nothing better than to wear an ancient blue cotton shirt that has faded like a pair of old jeans, and will match it up with an equally battered pair of Chinos. At the same time he insists that I wear something smart. His friends seem to dress the same. What is it about men and worn out clothes? at least no other female will look at him twice , the lady and the tramp springs to mind:hihi:
SiSiSi
Some blokes, me included can make clothes look scruffy. None of my clothes are more than about a year old except for a few leather coats and the newest is under a fortnight old and I wear them and still manage to look rough in them. I used to own a suit, a very expensive suit and anyone wearing it would look great. I managed to look like a Guy Fawkes after it had been dragged through several hedges then wee-weed on by a horse. Some people simply look like unmade beds and I`m one of `em. As a kid I remember my mother yelling each Whitsuntide that I `Looked like a sack O spuds tied up int middle wi string!`. I'm afraid I inherited the same gene. I blame our parents!
epiphany
It's important to dress a bit more clean cut when going out though Why is it important? Who are we doing all this for - ourselves or other people?
mr. pixel
some people make 'scruffy' clothes look god, some don't...i'm just wearing black until there's a darker colour...but i do like to make an effort when i'm out..

Alien
Maybe it has more to do with the individual in his or her comfort zone. Some I would guess are at a place in life where how you look is way down on their priority list. On the other hand if you are at that stage in your life it's a bit suspicious/hypocritical to ask your partner to smarten up!
splodgeyAl
Sounds absolutely awful and i'm surprised the "restaurant" allows him on their premises, dump him and get someone cleaner with better friends and a touch more style :gag: Too right, who the heck would wear chinos, battered or otherwise?
