Surge in Labour Party membership as Lib Dems desert their party

Recommended Posts

From today's Guardian:

The Labour Party has said that it has gained around 12,000 new members in an unexpected surge in membership since the election, taking it's membership to 166,200 and claimed that some of it's new members are former Lib Dem members who are disillusioned with the coalition.

I personally know of one Lib Dem supporter who joined the Labour Party, I would imagine there will be many more like him in Sheffield, with Clegg representing Hallam.

Will be very interesting to see what happens in the next council elections.

That's amazing. I'm quite shocked.

Shocked in the sense that anyone would think that, that bunch of schisters, ie the Labour Party, is better, or any different, than the Liberals. Anyone who is stupid enough to give them money deserves the bunch of reprobates who represent the Keystone Cops of a political farce...

Tory Local Government Minister Grant Shapps said: ‘Labour are raiding councillors’ allowances because their private donations have collapsed and they spot an opportunity to funnel local residents’ cash into Labour coffers. This is a desperate attempt to shore up the party finances at the expense of hard-working taxpayers who would ultimately be forced to foot the bill.

Well that's that then, what with you knowing one Lib Dem who has defected to Labour, Nick Clegg will no doubt resign as deputy prime minister on the strength of it. :hihi:

Look back to when OP was made laughing boy, was just after tie-up with Cons.
