sccsux
What happens if they screw up on the economy even more than Labour and we can't get em out for 5 years? A full on revolution:clap:.
truconstruct
From today's Guardian: The Labour Party has said that it has gained around 12,000 new members in an unexpected surge in membership since the election, taking it's membership to 166,200 and claimed that some of it's new members are former Lib Dem members who are disillusioned with the coalition. I personally know of one Lib Dem supporter who joined the Labour Party, I would imagine there will be many more like him in Sheffield, with Clegg representing Hallam. Will be very interesting to see what happens in the next council elections. This is rubbish, a total fiction. The process to become a labour party member takes at least 6 weeks and often as much as six months.

truconstruct
Is it a coincidence that membership is increasing now Brown has gone? Very funny. What's more likely to be the real truth about this number is that its the number of people canvased during the whole election period who expressed an 'interest in joining'. A number that usualy terns into one in fifty by past expeerience.
truconstruct
Really? Who told you that? I have been a 'membership secretary' and know the system like the back of my hand.
wednesday1
This is rubbish, a total fiction. The process to become a labour party member takes at least 6 weeks and often as much as six months. In keeping with many of your recent post's this is total claptrap too. You can join IMMEDIATELY on-line. As my former Lib Dem supporting friend did after Cleggy joined up with the Cons. Incidentally the membership office is now working 12 hrs a day to process this surge in applications
studentbob
I have been a 'membership secretary' and know the system like the back of my hand. Well I applied online last year, took about 5 mins to fill in and set up direct debit. Got my card in less than two weeks.
truconstruct
'on-line' membership is subject to confermation. If you could actualy join on-line there would be no form of 'veting process' which would mean many of the 'prescibed' organisations could have a field day enlisting their members as members of the labour party, something that the labour party has been very aggressivly attending too in recent years. What you are eagerly grasping at is a press statement that may or may not be true, but we'll find out when they get audited won't we.
