Ground Zero Mosque to be built on 10th anniversary of WTC attacks

Many Islam haters in Sheffield who have nothing to do with NY Mosque or have not lost anything as that lady has, claim to know better, strange that init?:suspect:

Well her view is certainly a surprising one tab1 and that attitude is obviously helping her recover from the loss of her daughter.

I think I'm pretty liberal minded, but personally I still think the proposed location is a couple of blocks too close to Ground Zero for the legitimate reasons, although the way some are talking a thousand miles away would be too close.

An interesting reflection from an Irish American:

But Donna Marsh O'Connor, who lost her daughter Vanessa on 9/11, questioned why "a center dedicated to peace and understanding should be built anywhere but at Ground Zero." She represents the support group September Eleventh Families for Peace Tomorrows, which, she said, counts 250 families of victims as members.

"I will not speak for everyone in our group but, as an organization, we stand for this center and this mosque," she said. "The mosque and center should be built. It's important to the future of America. It does honor to my daughter that in this place of hell on earth, a place for peace and love be established."

Much of what we're reading is based on hearsay and Chinese whispers, the project, as far as I can see is just an idea to convert a building already used as a mosque. The required funding ($100 million) hasn't been raised, and I could be wrong but I could find no record of a planning application having been submitted.

The building – vacant since that fateful day when time stood still as millions of Americans grieved the loss of loved ones, friends, family members, co-workers and strangers – was purchased in July by real-estate company Soho Properties, a business run by Muslims.
