Mecky
You could look up the % of people that voted Tory and LD, add them together and check it for yourself. You could also read the news http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/politics/7735407/A-55-per-cent-majority-plan-will-taint-New-Politics.html That's the proposal you were getting confused about. Any opinion on the topic in question, or do you still just want to flail about regarding the legitimacy of the government? Where as you just want to flail about anything and in support of this fact you resort immediately to personal insults when someone challanges your views. Cyclone was right. You really aren't very bright. Of the people who voted, the majority voted for either the Conservatives or Libdems therefore it is a popular government and you're wrong! THe majority may have voted for the Lib Dems or the Torys but very few people voted for the Lib Dems and the tories.
esme
...I want it made law that MPs can't make laws or affect peoples' lives in any shape or manner. interesting idea, where exactly do you think the laws we live by came from ? further if this were true why would we need MP's at all, what would they do ? and further still you do know how many new laws that directly affect peoples lives were passed by the last government in their thirteen years of office ? well since 1997 they introduced 50 criminal justice bills which themselves created 4,300 new criminal acts (src - http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/politics/article7061148.ece) these offences include forgetting to nominate a keyholder who can turn your house alarm off when you are out and selling a game bird that was killed on a sunday I'm afraid MP's are there to make laws, my hope is that they make sensible ones and remove the not so sensible ones
epiphany
So does anyone, Conservative, Lib Dem, Labour, Green, BNP, have any thoughts on these proposed sweeping changes?
splodgeyAl
In theory sounds mostly good. I don't believe they'll scrap biometric passports, tho, and the danger of the big-bang approach is that they'll sneek in a "crossed-fingers, we're not really doing it" clause without anyone noticing
Snook
Tell us the laws that you want scrapped The murder laws... I have a few scores to settle. Bonus!!
Randy
Nick Clegg has today asked the public to nominate laws to be repealed, as part of a "power revolution". He says he wants to "transform our politics so the state has far less control over you, and you have far more control over the state". http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8690882.stm So what laws would you like to get rid of? There's plenty to choose from especially as during their time in office NuLabour invented over 4,000 new laws to criminalise the people of Britain. http://loveandliberty.blogspot.com/2010/01/new-labours-4289-new-laws-yet-blair.html

Even just mentioning it a little more emphatically will hopefully have a positive effect on public consciousness. It takes the many to be aware of this centralisation of power before any support for its reversal can be deemed a priority.
Cyclone
only to an extent. THe majority may have voted for the Lib Dems or the Torys but very few people voted for the Lib Dems and the tories. But presumably they still prefer the coalition to not having their party in power at all.
