christineM
I have recently acquired an unusual spoon and would appreciate if anyone could identify it and it's use. The spoon has a tablespoon bowl but the handle is only 2" (5cm) long. It is the fiddle pattern and marked in gothic lettering DR & S Co. BP. Benares IMP. I have never seen one before and I could only have a guess at it's use. I'm hoping one of the Forummers can uncover the details of this unusual spoon. I would post a picture if I knew how to do it, I might give it a try. PopT I have just looked up the same mark and found BP is best plate and Benares the trade name of John Round and Son, not as fanciful as some of the suggestions!
