Scutts
Eaten at a couple on the A1 between here and Newcastle. Both times the food was excellent, but price is on the high side.

Tipex
Used them once on my way back from London many years ago...chilli, chips and a coffee for about £8.50. Little thief is what me and my old work pal used to call them.
Cynic
There was a program with Heston Blumenthal where he was creating a new menu for Little Chef. The chairman came across very badly in that, every other sentence was some marketing/business waffle that made no sense. It also seemed like they had no intention of ever using the new menu the just wanted some cheap/free publicity. Not sure what happened in the end, I think due to how popular the menu was it may have been rolled out to more little chefs.
