Next time you wont be so trusting of someone you dont know when spending a large amount of money and maybe take someone along that knows a hell of a lot more about cars than you obviously do  No good crying about it now.. Sold as seen ... learn from your mistake and jog on...

Depends if there's stuff wrong that wasn't mentioned etc. Did you have it checked out etc etc? You should only buy cars privately if either you know the car you're buying or you get someone like the AA to check it out before buying.

Naming and shaming is against forum rules because as much as we may believe that this user is being honest in their dealings with respect to this purchase, some users are not honest and are prepared to libel others for unknown reasons, and we have no way of knowing which are truthful and which are not.

As far as the purchase goes, we state clearly that all ads are on a CAVEAT EMPTOR basis and we take no responsibility for items offered for sale through Sheffield Forum. If you had bought something through a small ad in a newspaper which then turned out to be faulty then it's not likely that the buyer would have expected the newspaper owners to be responsible for that item's fault and the same is true here.

We have no way of verifying even the existence of the items offered in SF Classifieds and as such take no responsibility for them. The OP would be best advised to take legal advice to ascertain if there would be anything gained from taking small claims court action against the seller of this car and if appropriate contacting the police.
