As far as the purchase goes, we state clearly that all ads are on a CAVEAT EMPTOR basis and we take no responsibility for items offered for sale through Sheffield Forum. If you had bought something through a small ad in a newspaper which then turned out to be faulty then it's not likely that the buyer would have expected the newspaper owners to be responsible for that item's fault and the same is true here. We have no way of verifying even the existence of the items offered in SF Classifieds and as such take no responsibility for them. The OP would be best advised to take legal advice to ascertain if there would be anything gained from taking small claims court action against the seller of this car and if appropriate contacting the police.
