alchresearch
First on the chopping block - BECTA: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/05/24/becta_cut/ Good riddance I say.
mj.scuba
I think many of the cuts will simply demonstrate how loose Labour were with our money.
hitch_1980
Whats the chances both sides (people on this forum) will spin it out of control? The simple truth is people knew these were coming, its just the details we need now.
Stoatwobbler
I think that this is the "easy" cuts. I'm expecting more contentious cuts then this to follow.
alchresearch
BECTA were responsible for this "home access" scheme, amongst others. I'm all for helping out "poor" kids with a computer to help them access their school's VLE or do their homework, but what grinds my gears is that we (and many other schools) have store rooms full of old but usable computers that they could have for free. But BECTA won't let us do that.
tat lister
Just hope they will cut funding to things like A4E and other non esential employment agencies thats funded by the tax payer.
Ousetunes
I said all along that Child Trust Funds would, in effect never exist.
GordonBennet
I do think all this talk of savage cuts is over the top. If the economy was that bad, the government would be scrapping free education, abolishing the NHs and pulling out of the illegal war in Afghanistan. All that's going to happen is that they'll get rid of a few committees and penpushers. Nothing that's really important is under threat.
