Vague_Boy
Don't pay, don't let them in. You'll save a fair bit. Well I don't pay, but then again, I don't have a TV. There's very little on TV these days that I care to watch anyway.
Micky ET
Let bbc advertise and reduce the licence fee or get rid of it all together and just put a levy on new tv's it would save so much money on enforcement surely.

HeadingNorth
Yeah, just don't pay it. Haven't lined the BBCs pockets for 4 years. It's not optional, if you want to have a television at all.

cgksheff
or a computer monitor and an internet connection, bbc Iplayer... You do not require a TV License to watch TV on-demand via the current version of the BBC iplayer.
sccsux
You only need a TV licence if you watch TV programs as they are aired. Any other use does not require one.
S9_OWL
I'll be proved wrong but if you look on the website it states you also need one for the use of devices such as computer, laptop, mobile phone (!?), or dvd/video recorder.

But only to watch/record TV as it is aired (I've got a reminder for mine here). If you only watch DVDs/recorded programs (from a friend)/internet TV, then you do not need a licence - read the entire text (carefully). You need to be covered by a valid TV Licence if you watch or record TV as it's being broadcast. This includes the use of devices such as a computer, laptop, mobile phone or DVD/video recorder. Watching TV on the internet You need to be covered by a licence if you watch TV online at the same time as it's being broadcast on conventional TV in the UK or the Channel Islands. Source.
