extaxman Posted May 24, 2010 Share Posted May 24, 2010 I had an e-mail from Cafe Rouge yesterday telling me it was National Snail Day today, apparently they are giving a free helping of snails with any main course ordered. I've eaten snails twice before and quite like them particularly when they are in garlic butter. BUT I'm in the process of trying to get rid of them from my garden, they are eating everything they can get their teeth into. I wonder if the English snails are edible? The French ones are bred specially, and I hope you know they have to be starved before being prepared, to get rid of the toxins they carry inside. So I'd advise you not to try this at home...
