Still don’t want that “bit of paper”

Another myth about a marriage certificate / or lack of one crushed,

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1281640/Case-forces-judges-warn-unmarried-couples-Plan-possibility-split-up.html

A homeowner was yesterday ordered to give her ex-lover half the value of her £245,000 house, 17 years after they split and despite him never making a mortgage payment on it.

Appeal Court judge Lord Justice Wall said: ‘This is a cautionary tale, which all unmarried couples who are contemplating the purchase of a residential property as their home, and all solicitors who advise them, should study.’

Explain? are you saying that if they had been married this wouldn't have happened?

If they'd been married it would have formed part of the divorce settlement meaning he'd have got half the value at the time - £70,000.

It wouldn’t have happened because they would have got divorced, hence the judges comments.

One reason people don’t get married is because they fear getting taken to the cleaners, it just shows it works both ways.

If they had been married it would have been split 50/50 as part of the divorce settlement although the wife would have been given custody of the children and they would have lived there until the youngest child was 18.

The cautionary tale in my opinion is to remain single all your life and not to have children.

Otherwise live out of a suitcase in rented property.

(I'm feeling cynical)

So you'll get taken to the cleaners if you marry and if you don't? Not really proving your point or selling marriage to me
