Help protect prostitutes

Recommended Posts

Prostitution is like booze was in the days of prohibition. You can declare it illegal but you'll never stamp it out.

Fortunately we're still civilized enough in our parts of the world not to go around beheadinhg all hookers unlike in some (?) countries I could mention.

Legalize it, control it, tax it.

It provides an essential service for men who are single, lonely or too plug ugly to have a woman of their own

I heard that the hookers in Holland even have their own union. Nothing wrong with that either

As usual the voice of reason from the none trolling section.

I think that it is time to have legal brothels that can pay huge amounts in tax and protect the women who work there. However, as people have said, I don't see that this will get women off the streets. Drugs are the problem, and I expect there will still be some men out there who will be willing to pay them.

Put it this way why would anyone one choose to use a street prostitute with all the risks of various infections if properly run Brothels were available.

I agree, it's a total waste of time and is a ridiculous cat and mouse game. Don't escort services get round it by not openly admitting to selling sex? They all do but it's never acknowledged.

That's because they use another title ie 'Escort Service'/'Sex Worker' but in reality it is just prostitution.

4 consecutive posts troll!

Just as you can't "ban" prostitution or mephedrone, you can only make it illegal, so some will always be drawn to the absolute bottom of the market. The poor murdered girls were alcoholic and drug-dependant, no licensed brothel would employ them. Their customers, naturally, prefer private secluded areas to engage in business, which places the women in terrible danger. Yes, brothels should be legalised, but even areas with legalised prostitution have street walkers.

Why do they do it now when there are numerous brothels in any city? Why do they do it when you can go online and find escorts and the like? Probably because it is cheap and there is also the thrill, I would guess.

And anyone with a brain would certainly go to a legal brothel knowing that those prostitutes out on the street obviously are not safe for various reasons to use.

The NHS couldn't sustain that

Why?

The medicinal cost of heroin is about 30p a shot and when the 'free' heroin scheme was abolished there were about 4000 users I think.

, however, if drugs were legalised, controlled, not mixed with crap, sold at more affordable prices it would go a long way to solving street prostitution, I agree, and associated organised crime. However, the hysterical morally outraged brigade would never allow this to happen. It's not a vote winner and it seems that too many people would rather see drug related crime and women putting their lives at risk than go for the most pragmatic solution.

Indeed. Having the NHS provide them to existing addicts is would be a step in the right direction though. I'm not convinced that heroin should ever be completely legalised, but a large proportion of drugs could be.

I think that I qualified somewhere, after that post, that it couldn't/wouldn't in the present climate.
