'Sex Worker' not 'Prostitute', PC gone mad

Recommended Posts

And there's some women who do it because it's an easy way to earn lots of money. These are the women at the opposite end of the market from the desperate street walker.

Not all, I think that some at the lower end of the market will be occasional prostitutes because they need the money or are being coerced by some drug addicted partner to go out and score, for which they need to turn a trick.

Legalise drugs, decriminalise prostitution, it's the only way. Control drug distribution, take it out of hands of the unscrupulous and the organised criminals. Make it illegal, with heavy penalties, for anyone to buy drugs from a non-liscenced vendor/centre. The same applies to prostitution, get prostitutes to register and off the streets. Any man found paying a non-registered (and therefore most likely trafficked or pimped) prostitute gets a heavy fine.

In my experience most women use sex as a training tool and a reward for their men. Maybe I just know some dodgy women! I think you do. Or if they're able to switch off so easily, maybe they've just missed their vocation :D

Of course some men have to pay for it and its a good job they can because if they couldn't what else would they do? Everyone has drives and needs, prostitutes fill that need for people who can't get sex anywhere else

Would you? What do 'decent' and 'respectable' men do? Don't they do what most women have to do and sublimate their needs and drives? Some men might choose to use a sexual services but it's a fallacy that they 'have' to do it.

Several years ago when I lived and worked in London, there was a documentary about the King's Cross prostitutes, which I watched as I worked at the Gray's Inn Road end. Now, being filmed on CCTV were women approaching men who were going about their everyday business. I would say that about 90% of the men (and I imagine that approximately half of those weren't actively looking for business) stopped to engage with these women and about 70% of those stopped took her up on the offer.

It was quite an eye opener. This was during rush hour too, not late at night. I imagine some of these men couldn't turn down the opportunity of a quickie, for £20, on their way home.

My comments about men 'having to pay for it' were of course somewhat flippant. High profile men, who have women queuing up, have sought the services of prostitutes and not at the top end of the market either. Am thinking Hugh Grant as one example, there are loads more. Russell Brand has openly admitted to using prostitutes. There is obviously some kind of allure with seedy sex and the risks associated with it.

True, but the term "sex worker" seems to be an attempt to make prostitution sound like it's properly regimented, unionised and controlled. In truth, it's a very long way from that.

As a point of fact, the GMB has unionised a number of sex workers, or whatever term you prefer.

What about the disabled? The mentally ill who can't hold a relationship down? The people with no self confidence or esteem?

Like it or not so people do feel they have to use prostitutes in order to get any kind of sex.

Why should people sublimate their drives or desires? wanting to have sex and doing it is the most natural thing in the world, its nothing to be ashamed of or anything sordid and if you have to pay for it why should it be regarded as a taboo?

Some women pay for sex as well. What are your thoughts on them?

It's quite a different ballgame (er, no pun). Women who pay for sex have to be reasonably well off as the 'male escorts' (rather than male prostitutes) tend to be at the higher end of the market and as far as I'm aware, charge a lot more. It's also nowhere near as common, but if a woman wants to pay for sex, good for her. She'll generally be doing it as part of a package, from what I know, rather than a quickie down the back of an alley. I don't think you'll find that many of the men will be being controlled by some b/stard pimp or fuelling a drug addiction, for example.

I did ask 'Would you'? Would you either use the services of a streetwalker or visit a brothel? Or, having regard to your last sentence, would you sell yourself for sex? You now seem to be using the word 'people' as a euphemism for 'men'?

I've not seen any male streetwalkers hanging around for women kerbcrawlers to pull up alongside them or even heard of the existence of male brothels or massage parlours. Are there any?

Maybe more women would pay for casual sex if it was easily available, but although some women may pay, it's probably less of a casual arrangement and more of a relationship of unequal finances? And how could you guarantee it'd be a satisfactory service? :) I don't know of any women who actually go out looking for a male prostitute, or if I do, they've never told me about it. I'm not sure that men are that altruistic that they'd go with a disabled, mentally ill, ugly, or shy woman just because their partner needed a fix or had gambled away the rent money?

Questions, questions! The more you bring to your mind to bear on this subject, the more complicated it becomes, even the mechanics of it, let alone the emotional aspects of it.

Which again brings us to the reasons as to why men do pay for sex. A lot, from what I gather, seem to be attracted to the seediness of picking up a woman on a street corner, they like the anonymity and appear to enjoy the power that they have over her. And as I highlighted earlier, some seem to enjoy inflicting pain as well as the fact that they know the woman is not remotely enjoying it. It must be a very soulless experience.

Then you have women at the higher end of the market, who cater for specific fetishes, the dominatrixes, those who specialise in infantilism, water sports and so forth, that men feel that they cannot (nor may wish to) explore with their regular partner.

Male escorts/prostitutes seem to pride themselves on being expert love makers so the two are not remotely comparable, in my opinion.

As much as I don't like doing it i'm going to have to break this up to answer everything. Apologies

I did ask 'Would you'? Would you either use the services of a streetwalker or visit a brothel?
I've never needed to. However if I were in a position where I was needed to then yes I would.
Or, having regard to your last sentence, would you sell yourself for sex?
I honestly don't think anybody would pay!
You now seem to be using the word 'people' as a euphemism for 'men'?
I'm not particularly, however I would imagine that the majority of people who pay for sex are men so even if I were it would be appropriate, wouldn't it?

I've not seen any male streetwalkers hanging around for women kerbcrawlers to pull up alongside them or even heard of the existence of male brothels or massage parlours. Are there any?
I've not seen them either, then again I've never looked, maybe there are. There are hundreds of hidden worlds right at the end of our noses so its possible.

Maybe more women would pay for casual sex if it was easily available, but although some women may pay, it's probably less of a casual arrangement and more of a relationship of unequal finances? And how could you guarantee it'd be a satisfactory service? :)
I would imagine it is easily available if you know where to look. The truth is most women simply don't need to buy sex, its incredibly easy for a woman to secure no strings sex.
I don't know of any women who actually go out looking for a male prostitute, or if I do, they've never told me about it.
which would be understandable
I'm not sure that men are that altruistic that they'd go with a disabled, mentally ill, ugly, or shy woman just because their partner needed a fix or had gambled away the rent money?
But women are?

This is where its easy for men, we can seperate the two quite easily

It always interests me that men who cheat and men who use hookers always choose ones notably less attractive than their actual partner (Ashley Cole and Wayne Rooney i'm looking at you!). But theres a very simple reason for it. Most people are dirtier and nastier in bed than they want their partner to find out about so they find someone who they can be that dirty and nasty with.
