52% of motorists don't understand traffic lights

Some people just don't get the green light along with seperate green arrow filter light.

I recently asked my kids what the sequence was. They must have 'seen' hundreds of light changes but they didn't know. Soon as I mentioned it, every light was on green all the way home!

This is a bit of a shocker. The majority of us motorists don't see red.

In Sheffield, when the lights are green everyone has ground to a halt. When they are red everyone moves. Something I've never understood. But it could be everyone's felll asleep at the lights.

From my experience most drivers understand traffic lights as follows:

 

Green = Go

Amber = Go

Red = Just three more

There is a very very simple answer.Retest all drivers perodically.

 

 

I think if this ever happened there would be more unlicensed and uninsured drivers than there is today, but the idea is a good one
