Cultural Diversity

Recommended Posts

Good morning colleagues.

Might I tease you with a question or two at the start of the working day?

1. There seems almost to have been a Muslim/Jihadist recruitment campaign on some of the Forum pages recently. Is the BNP allowed such licence?

2. A work colleague's electronic diary for Friday afternoons is always blocked out with "Mosque". I know that he is paid for the time. If I wanted to take time out - say, to travel to the "Biretta Belt" of Goldthorpe for an outdoor procession of the Blessed Sacrament on the feast of Corpus Christi (it's just an example) I would have to take annual leave.

I'm not asking for generalised replies, because it leads to ranting, and there's plenty of that going on already. But am interested to hear of similar experiences.....

of course there are double standards.

in my opinion if someone wants to go to the mosque or the church or what ever on a friday afternoon, they should not get paid for the hour. i am sure a lot of employers wont pay people if they leave work to pray.

as for your first point. i dont think that there has been a jihadist recruitment on here. as for the BNP, they are perfectly legal, but they do prevoke a lot of anger from left wing people. both sides love to hate each other. i just cant be bothered taking part or reading their little battles, meaningless battles.

The muslim faith does get panderd to by companys i worked at a large factory were they could leave their posts to go and pray. The most contemptuous was even though they had their own toilet cubicle they would insist on standing on the others causing non muslims to get their backs up about it:gag:

Religious belief is an aspect of cultural diversity. My experience of Sheffield is that large areas of it are a cultural wasteland and a little diversity is no bad thing.

Was this supposed to be a muslim bashing thread? Sorry.

Some Muslims still stand when going to the toilet, as is the case in their home country. When they get a seperate toilet, it's usually one of those that you see abroad, a hole in the ground with two standing plates.

Some Muslims feel the need to stand on, what we see as, an ordinary toilet. Thus causing them to break.

And pebble dash the toilets causing problems for non-muslims who have to wait until the cleaners have cleaned and re-opened the toilets.

Nonsense. No employer would give an employee of one religion time off, but not another employee of a different or no religion. Besides not making economic sense and demotivating staff, it would also be illegal.

There are still certain employers that let their employees finish at lunch time on Friday, but that applies to all employees.

The single most stupid claim ever I have read on SF.

They eat babies should be along in a bit.
