Budget cuts and what's ahead

Recommended Posts

Why is it that every time Labour get into power for a prolonged time, they spend like mad, get the country into massive debt and then the following goverment has to come in and sort the mess out??.

Look at what Maggie did after 1979, massive spending cuts to cut the deficit that Labour had built up in the 70's, crap early 80's and then we had a long time of prolonged wealth.

1997 all the spending starts again, labour loose this year and leave a note saying that they have spent the lot :loopy:

Now the cycle is starting again with the emergency budget on June 22nd grrrr

Well it's all to do with a party's priorities and what they see their role in society as. Labour believes in putting public money into hospitals, schools, tax credits, etc whereas the Conservative fallback position has always been to restrict public spending and trust the market. Two conflicting philosophies, you tick your ballot box, you take your choice.

Then people get fed up of cutbacks and austerity measures and then vote a Labour Govt in.

Mrs Thatcher once said something very pertinent. "The problem with socialism is that you always run out of other peoples money". It was true then, its true now.

Voting labour is like throwing a party when your bonus comes in or like christmas. Its good when you do it and right when you do it and you'll probably have a good time but then you have to pay the bills

Yes if you think taking money away from public services that we all use and giving this money to millionnaires is grown up.

Not quite.

Old Labour said, lets all work together for a better world.

New Labour and the Tories (it is difficult to distinguish between the two) say, let the fattest pig get to the trough first and take the lot.

Ergo, if a heartless pig with no concern for your fellow man, then the Tories are the party for you.

The Liberals, upon entering this coalition, have destroyed themselves.

Instead of the slow death they are about to suffer, it would have been easier to put a bullet in their collective brain.

This is a temporary setback, and the country will remain a two party state for the foreseeable future.
