depoix
As a new member to the Sheffield Forum, I came across this website accidentally and have throughly enjoyed reading about teachers/pupils from Woodthorpe School. Many names I too remember ... Mr Sallis, Mr Jennings, Miss Clark (PE teacher) and of course, Mr Frost. I also remember a student teacher called Miss Crisp; she had no control over our class (or any other as I recall) and we must have made her life a misery. Mr Lyons, the swimming coach was a wonderful man and during one of my few visits back to Sheffield, was shocked to discover the swimming pool no longer exists! I was part of the swimming team comprising of Nancy Smith, Margaret Jones, Christine Wilson and myself, Diane Turner in the late 1950's.are you related to eileen turner? she was in the swimming team with me in the mid 60's,i think she lived on kilvington road

tasha_78
Halevan and anone who went to Prince Edwards Can anyone tell me if they can remember the Woodthorpe pit or Woodthorpe Ravine and the Orchards which were down the back of where St Theresa,s is now, Does anyone have any memories of Ten Town just off Woodgrove Avenue ? Ta Mo I went to Prince Edwards in the 50s and 60s and well remember walking in a long snake with the rest of my class across Pit Field to get to Woodthorpe swimming baths. We went on our own, with no teacher to escort us and we all arrived at the baths on time and unmolested. Our teacher was Miss Pilgrim and I remember she always used to take 2 or 3 children in her car to the baths. I remember we used to hang back in class as the rest set off in the hope that she`d pick us to go in the car with her.
