gularscute
I got so fed up of strimmer wires breaking, I tried a metal guitar string, it broke straight away..and it was a thick bugger...an A string! I was just about to post almost exactly the same thing! Except that mine lasted ages and cut through some really tough weeds, occasionally through tulips when I was careless. I think it was a medium top E. I had to be careful not to shred my feet with it though
liza D
Safety is the excuse. Profit is the reason. Manufactures make more profit on parts than the actual item, that's why the strimmers etc are so cheap and wire etc is so dear and basically useless. truman
Most petrol strimmers use steel wire. Mine doesn't..which ones do? TimmyR
Because the consumer demands ever cheaper things and the manufacturers provide ever cheaper things. inevitably the things are becoming more and more crap. We throw everything in the bin after a couple of years and yet no one notices (or cares) that we do this more and more.
