medicgirl
I want to take some family members to an Indian restaurant for lunch on a Saturday in a few weeks' time. Would be most convenient if in/very close to town as they're staying at the St Pauls hotel right in the city centre. Had planned to take them to Aagrah but discovered when I was there on Saturday that they don't open for lunch! Just looked on the website for Cafe Guru and it looks like they don't open for lunch either. Any other ideas?
brianthedog
That's a tough one. I know from mistaking you for a friend that you're into your proper curry (i.e. East and West!). I often fancy a curry at lunchtime (breakfast too) but am yet to find anywhere in town that satisfies. A trip out to Spital Hill normally solves it, but totally inconvenient... Does the Shapla open for lunch?
NS3237
Nirmal's on West Street is open for lunch. Bit pricey but nice food.
medicgirl
Thanks for these suggestions. I'll have to look into Shapla and Nirmals. Is Shapla on the Moor?
brianthedog
On Cumberland Street - here.
chinaski
Weatherspoons usually do a balti and a pint for around the £4 mark. If you don't have any success with the lunchtime Indian, dim sum at Wong Ting's always seem to go down well.
medicgirl
Yeah, Chinese or Thai is my backup plan. I thought I'd be able to find an Indian but apart from Shapla nowhere else is looking very promising...

medicgirl
Ooh Dosanj, had forgotten about that! Am aware of the thread 'banging on about how bad it is' but I have eaten there once and enjoyed it. A definite contender for me. Thanks Lady Star.
