Heard about Hollie Grieg? Alleged victim of paedophile ring.

This debate is really what should be happening in the public enquiry.

We could spend rest of our days in an "info war",i think we should leave it to honest professionals to decide whos qualified to say and whos not.

I think its too late to get a conviction for paedophilia as they've had plenty of time to cover their tracks(if there were any tracks of course)

But "we" should investigate if it was handled honestly or were "important" people protected from the usual procedures due to their status?

If so, whoever has helped to do that should stand accountable, regardless of weather the accused are guilty or not.

Then hang em high

A public inquiry isn't a "debate".

A public inquiry would require evidence - not simply accusations and allegations and the general mud slinging we've seen from the "friends" of Hollie Greig.

A public inquiry costs a lot of money. Are we to hold one every time someone comes along and accuses "the establishment" of wrongdoing? We'd have dozens on the go all the time - it would be open season for every publicity seeking conspiracy theorist.

So you think it would be a ludicrous diversion.

It should be investigated for peace of mind, even if just to establish that Anns claims were fully investigated and she was lawfully treated, and no one got special favours due to who they are.

Id rather spend my taxes on that than many of the things they do.

Yes it would be a ludicrous diversion.

Why should we make Ann Greig a special case?

She's been treated the same as anyone else who made allegations without any evidence to back them up.

And who's peace of mind are you talking about?

My peace of mind, and that of others aware of this case.

I repeat if the police don't search for evidence they not gonna find any are they?

Did you expect Ann to seize the accused computers and do her own forensic examinations etc before reporting it ?

No,she reported it but none of this was done and soon after she was locked up in a mental hospital and told she was paranoid about her husband.

What evidence can she give ,other than say what happened to her?

Its up to the public enquiry now to find if she was treated correctly.

When did computers come in to it? First I've heard them mentioned in this case - probably because what is alleged to have happened was well before widespread broadband usage.

You just make things up as you go along.

None of the allegations prior to your post - the Palestine Times articles, the various "Friends of Hollie" websites / blogs - had made the slightest hint about photographs of the abuse of Hollie taking place - just something you made up about "evidence" that didn't exist.

The whole basis of the allegations by "friends of Hollie" on the internet would appear to be at best distortions - "special memory ability", the compensation award being an admission that abuse had happened - and a whole bunch of allegations that don't have a shred of evidence to back them up.

I will back any campaign where I think there has been a cover up - but I like evidence first from reliable sources. If there was any veracity in the claims it is a story any professional investigative journalist would give their eye teeth to investigate. Guess why they haven't?

What makes me most suspicious is that, according to the article, she gradually, over a period of time, started to remember the names of the people who had abused her.

That is a description of false memory syndrome, that is.

People do not tend to slowly remember peoples names over a period of time, unless other people are putting those names there. She may have been abused by her relative, that is not particularly uncommon, but as for the rest of it it sounds very unlikely.

Oh, for goodness sake, Auto... what are you doing, muddying the waters by bringing the TRUTH into an argument like this?
