Spending cuts 22/6/2010

As I've said before, the rich will get richer, the poor will get poorer, and the gap will widen.

Not for one minute are we 'all in this together.' The rich will escape, as they always do, and the poor will get clobbered.

Look behind the headlines and soundbites for the truth.

No change there then

Gap between rich and poor has widened under Labour

The gap between the richest and poorest in society has widened since Labour came to power in 1997, according to a new study from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation.

Progress towards a more equal society slowed, and in some cases "stalled", during the second half of Labour's time in office, according to the report published by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation.

Improvements in tackling child poverty ground to a halt after 2005 and the UK still ranks equal bottom of the original 15 EU members, the report said.

Massive deficit spending since 2001, along with an unsustainable housing boom, produced a sense of unearned prosperity amongst the general public. Thus they voted for more of the same in 2001 and 2005. Well, every action has consequences and today is when we have to start to face up to them.

This is just the beginning....
