Vague_Boy
Do You `Go To Town` Or `To Sheffield?` Neither if I can avoid it. Thank goodness for Internet shopping.

swfcgal
Town Even though I live in Rotherham/Sheffield/Worksop, if I'm going to Sheffield it's town. Always has been always will be. If I'm going to Rotherham though, I say Rotherham
Ms Macbeth
In my home town in Scotland everyone said 'city centre'. When I lived in Doncaster I'd say 'town', but when I lived in Rotherham I'd say Rotherham - because town was ambiguous - as it could have meant Sheffield. And by the time I moved to Sheffield, Rotherham didn't really have a town centre left! (Everything had moved to Parkgate or shut down ) Here, I'd say town. Although I don't need to say anything now - cos I have a bus/tram pass!
