Recommended Posts

Ive just read the Roin Hood at little Matlock is up for sale, thank god new owners may give us the pub back how it used to be a few years ago.weekends were great with karioke and ordinary grub and other activities and not try to take it upmarket as the present owners have tried and apparently failed, hopefully we can have some good times again at a resonable price

It could have closed if they hadn't taken it on. I wish the new owners every success.

From what I understand if it hadn't been for the current owners taking over a run down, going nowhere pub it would have been turned into flats by now.

You understand very wrong. Yes if they had not bought the pub it would have been turned into flats but contrary to what the new owners would have you believe it did very well for itself. The previous owners worked extremely hard and were very well respected. Maybe if the new owners had been more respectful they might have done better for themselves and not offended all their potential customers.

Hear, hear,George, joan and Dave and his wife made it a true local pub and i'm certain all the old regulers would come back if new owners look to local potential and not to upmarket schemes which dont work for the area.I travelled from Rotherham every Saturday night so it must have ben good for me to do this thats for sure!

Some of the old regulars travel down to Bridlington to see them on a Saturday.

I dont think it was the "upmarket" scheme that was the problem, more so their attitude towards customers. Unless they were friends of the owners, you were treated as if you had just walked in to someone's home uninvited. They were very openly rude about the previous owners. As most customers considered Cath and Joan etc as good friends it was a foolish mistake as well as very unprofessional.

I think they just jumped on the "save the pub" bandwagon and thought that would make them hero's.

Yes it would be interesting to see what is done with the pub now. I know from still speaking to a lot of the old regulars, they would love to go back. It wouldn't be the same as before, but that would be impossible. I think it would be nice to just enjoy the pub again and enjoy the memories.

Dave's Stars in their eye's for one. :wow:
