Fundraising Ideas Help Please

Recommended Posts

Hi to all forum members,

We are the Stephen Harrison Academy, a not for profit social enterprise that puts on free snooker and mentoring sessions for disadvantaged groups ( full details are on the website snookerskills dot com ) please visit and watch the video to get a real feel for what we do. One of our popular sessions is for a group with learning difficulties and is at Hillsborough snooker center every Thursday at 11.00 am till 3.00pm this session has been running for about 2 years. All of the people who attend have benefited greatly, some could only attend with carers at the beginning but now travel to the event alone on public transport with no problems at all. This session was funded by Sheffield City Council but they can no longer fund us because we are not a charity (we are a not for profit social enterprise that tries to sustain itself before seeking grants etc where possible, although donations are always welcome) and the funding would have probably ended anyway due to the massive cuts in spending that everyone is aware of. The group are still attending at present and paying for their own lights whilst we continue to supply staff to cover the event. It is a tribute to the group and the success of it that they held a snookerthon yesterday (non stop snooker for 12 hours) to raise funds through sponsorship to keep the sessions going. We will keep the sessions going as long as we can, so any fundraising ideas would be greatly appreciated. We already have a charity football match booked for Sept 4th (more details later). I know there are many worthy causes who will find themselves in similar positions and that we can all be bombarded with good cause overkill, but any help would be genuinely appreciated.
