Rupert_Baehr
I was in Chesterfield two weeks ago, quite a pleasant place - not a patch on Buxton where I was born I have to say - but lots of shops, good market, post office and banks nearby - but they do call people 'duck' in Edinburgh it's 'hen' - that's my only 'grouse':hihi: You pheasant, you! imamartian
With several muatations along the way no doubt. Isn't that how Chesterfield got started? i wouldn't know, i'm not from round here
cressida
in my defense, i don't call people duck... i live here, but i'm not from round here... just wondered how us Chessie folk 'mixed' with you Sheffield lot? I imagine Cressida might have tried out a few of our bars? I was on a coach trip and they only gave us three hours, went to the post office twice and the bank twice - can't recall what I bought though:D

azazel666
I always think it's weird how in such a short travelling distance the accent changes......as soon as you get to the border of Derbyshire you lose the vowel changes associated with Yorkshire....Chesterfield is a great tho...I like it The new football stadium is looking good.
