fabcakes
i was given a wedding dress by a very nice lady & its absolutely stunning i love it its just perfect for me the problem is i don't renew my vows until 3 years time & i don't want it to be moth ridden by the time i come to use it ive never had problems with moths eating my clothes but knowing me.......... the dress is in a very strong dress bag that obviously came with the dress would the dress be ok in there until the big day or do i need to protect it as i have no idea about these things i was going to leave it in the bag it has a zip that covers it totally so can't see moths getting in or can they ? it was my hubby that asked me if it would be ok & now im not so sure the women who had the dress has kept it in the loft for the past 5 years with no problem with it at all i just love it & don't want it to get damaged i really would appreciate your input :help:
Jozafeen
It should be absolutely fine in the dress bag, especially if you add a moth protection hanger (something like this) just to make extra sure!
medusa
Make sure that it's clean (if it's been in the loft then you'd be amazed how quickly bacteria and damp can destroy the fabric if you're not careful) then buy one of the mega jumbo vacuum bags for clothes and a load of acid free tissue paper. Layer it up with the tissue paper so the dress isn't touching the plastic at all and there's tissue in all the layers and then vacuum pack it. Once it's in there then you've got no problems with damp, mould, bacteria, moths etc.
