The songs that makes you cry??

Recommended Posts

My Friend the Sun ...Family

Los Angeles..Frank Black

I heard Ramona sing..Frank Black

Freewill ..Rush

A tout le monde ..Megadeth (not the usual 'Crash Bang Wallop ,more of a Power Ballad, it has been a favourite in our household since first hearing it in 94 )

Those 5 songs remind me of my son Adam who died in June 08 .

We had 'A tout le monde ' played at his funeral and had some of the lyrics engraved on his headstone.

"So as you read this know my friends

I'd love to stay with you all

Please smile when you think of me

My body's gone thats all"

"Moving on is a simple thing

What it leaves behind is hard

You know the sleeping feel no more pain

And the living are scarred "

Those are very moving lyrics Guzzi- sorry for your loss.

Those are very moving lyrics Guzzi- sorry for your loss.

Ta Nan, on reading the lyrics to 'A tout le monde' , the Vicar at Ecclesfield remarked how moving they were , and (instead of playing it at the beginning of the funeral service ) decided to play the full song and base the service around it .My nephew handed copies of the lyrics to those who attended , and ,although hardly anyone was familiar with the song ,almost everyone remarked over the lyrics .They are truly emotional ..

Even as now , i cant play it without being reduced to tears..

I can't say I have ever the songs you have mentioned, but the words you have printed, are without some of the most emotional I have ever read. I am in tears as I write this. So sorry to hear of the loss of your son, no parent should ever have to bury their child. God bless.

I'll name a couple of Mary Chapin Carpenter songs. Not because they have any association with anything, but just the subject matter is beautifully expressed. "Only A Dream" which is about her and her sister during their parents break up, and "John Doe No. 24" based on a true story of a deaf and blind boy found in America, who was never reported missing and went to his grave without anyone ever coming forward to say he was their relative. Mary Chapin always has a great way with words, but she really excels on these 2 tunes.

Rather a mixed bunch but:

Jerusalem (And did those feet)

For the good times

Ruby

Land of Hope and Glory

All are guaranteed to bring tears and I think the older one gets, the more sentimental.

Would 'Ruby' be the Ray Charles version, nan. Have'nt heard that for a while.
