Evidence for Man Made Climate Change

Recommended Posts

A little like YAD061 then.

Precisely, that is why when people talk about temperatures rising sharply in the last 50 years they refer to the collective evidence of thousands of proxies and not just individual ones.

As i have written no story how can it be untrue.

He's now trying to diss something that doesn't exist :hihi:

I was refering to this assertion.... the clue was in the fact that it was quoted in my response

Does this look like he has climbed down?

Infact what has happened is that after Monckton's misrepresentations and deceipts in the presentation he was using were taken apart in great detail by Abrahams. Monckton initially resorted to ad hominems and a totally unhinged response. He is now orchestrating a campaign to censor Abraham through the threat of suing him for libel and a letter writing campaign to Abraham's employer asking for him to be disciplined and the page taken down.

The whole situation would be a funny farce if it were not for the consequences this could have on Abrahams.

Indeed I recommend people look at the presentation and compare it to Monckton's responses... comparing Abrahams to an overcooked prawn, his presentation as being Nazi propoganda of the Guardian being Marxist.

And what are the ad hominems Monckton detects? All true statements made in guarded and reasonable language.

Monckton's ravings have made it obvious he is a charlatan and if any further evidence was needed that Watt's website should not be trusted then its support for Monckton's dangerous lunacy will convince any impartial observer.

Can't you find it on wiki wiki :hihi:

I didn't think to look.

Here is the link to Monckton's page...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Monckton,_3rd_Viscount_Monckton_of_Brenchley#Inventions

This is what it says about the episode:

In October 2009, during his tour of North America, Monckton gave a talk on climate science at an event held at Minnesota's Bethel University, sponsored by the Minnesota Free Market Institute. In response, University of St. Thomas professor of thermal engineering John Abraham published an online rebuttal of the claims made by Monckton in his talk. Abraham's presentation, in which he asserted that Monckton had misrepresented and misunderstood scientific findings, received praise as a "long-needed factual voice on climate change."[48] Monckton's response accused Abraham of misrepresentation and libel, criticised the university and its head, and demanded a retraction, apology, disciplinary action against Abraham and a compensatory payment. The University of St Thomas supported Abraham, threatening legal action if Monckton continued making "disparaging or defamatory comments".

Now lets just check that reference:

The viscount said he had sent materials to a Minneapolis law firm and was waiting to hear back on his legal options. He also took another slap at St. Thomas, a Catholic university with over 10,000 students, calling it a “wretched little Bible college.” He said it would be wrong to construe his statements as anti-Catholic, given that he’s Catholic himself.

Abraham said he was gratified by the support he’s received from scientists around the world — and from St. Thomas.

A lawyer for the school, Phyllis Karasov, wrote to Monckton last month saying Abraham “has done nothing improper or illegal” and that he “has not engaged in any academic or professional misconduct.” She wrote that there would be no investigation, retraction or apology.

And she threatened “appropriate legal action” if Monckton continued making “disparaging or defamatory comments” about the university, Dease, Abraham, the archdiocese or anyone else associated with the school.

Abraham said scientists need to convey the message that there’s a strong consensus within the scientific community that climate change is a real problem because much of the public has the mistaken impression that there isn’t.

The professor declined to comment on his views about the viscount, saying he found all the name-calling “completely uninteresting. ...

“But what it says to me is this topic has somehow become way too divisive and far too polarizing,” he added. “And as long it’s polarized in this way we are incapable as a society of coming together and making the tough decisions we’ve got to make.”

So thanks for suggesting Wiki.

As you can see far from backing down under Monckton's vicious and unhinged attacks on John Abraham's character, legal threats and attempts to censor him. His employer is backing him and has counter threatened Monckton that if he continues having his tantrums and besmirching the character of the University and staff then he will be the one facing legal action.

:hihi::hihi:

So where retep is this retraction?

It looks to me like Watts has been lying again... when are you going to learn not to trust anything you find on that website?

At the risk of going round in circles and another couple of dozen links that you can find, try post 55.

I am perfectly aware of that post, and the article linked to. it is headlined with Abrahams backs down. Which is the usual Watt's lies.

He has not backed down one bit, and why should he back down? The only slandering going on is coming from Monckton because he has been exposed to be a fraud.
