neeeeeeeeeek
Trying to find a cheap holiday and Rhodes and Kefalonia seem to be coming up quite abit. Went to Thasos last year and that was nice, anyone been to Kefalonia? Cheers.
Saffy
Kefalonia is STUNNING! If you liked Thassos, then Kefalonia is for you above Rhodes .. We have stayed in Lassi, Skala and Poros. Hiring a car or bike for a couple of days is a must do as there is so much to see. The beautiful thing about the Ionion Islands is that they are so, so green .. the smell of the cypress trees and wild thyme is overwhelming at times ... Anything you want to know, please ask! Jenjenz
I just found out that the film version of Captain Corelli's Mandolin was filmed in Kefalonia, I didn't know that!
Merry_Legs
Surprisingly, I didn't really like it..could have been the mixed bag of weather though. Loads of coppers/speed guns too. The nice places were Fiskado on the North (bit posh for you mind..). Athos and Myrtos beach were OK (on the west). The Captain Corelli beach had a huge electricity pylon running down it. Saffy
They were filming it when we were there one time ... some of the stage sets were incredible ! It's a HUGE island and you really need to get out and see it rather than be stuck in resort. Fiskardo is fairrrrrr expensive as it caters to the yachting crew .. but a lovely clean traditional village. Love Assos too .. and Myrtos Beach has to be seen ... http://www.sunisle.co.uk/images/holiday/Greece/Kefalonia/Panas%20Hotel/myrtos-beach.jpg When we first went (1985) the road down was aggregate .. a real trial to get down on mopeds I can tell you ... lol. Saffy
I'd definitely top it over Rhodes though ... every time! I don't think Kefalonia has Club 18-30 yet .. Rhodes does .. says it all really ..
