Here at Penelopes HQ we love all things Sheffield and we're delighted to be Launching Tramlines 2010.

So Here's what's happening....

4pm - Possibly the most famous Band in the Land?

We're pretty sure that everyone in the country has heard this band, and most of us have sung along....but who are they? They come from Sheffield, but would you know them in the street? A small clue....

It will be a pitch perfect kickoff.

5pm - A few words from The Lord Mayor - Councillor Alan Law JP

Then

Darke Horse

• Darke Horse formed at the end of 2007 after friends Simon Kaviani, Chris Gill, Joe Pearson and Jonno Lodge resolved to bring entertaining rock back into the mainstream. The funk/rock foursome from Sheffield blend Chili Peppers-inspired rock with a smattering of Thin Lizzy leads and a touch of Northern attitude to form a fresh, fun, funkadelic sound.Darke Horse's rock and rollercoaster ride to the here-and-now has taken them from the humble surroundings of the back of a cushion factory to the front of a recording studio, via Nashville, Tennesee. Debut single Flat Screen Suicide is currently being pimped up and down the country and is airing on LAVA TV (SKY 378). Watch this space... it's all about to get big.

6pm - Nerves

"One of Sheffield's best up-and-coming bands, Nerves. These are well worth checking out." - Sheffield Gig Listings

"the new breed of Sheffield's talent like Nerves" - Sheffield Music Scene

"I liked that" - Sheffield Live

7pm - The Great Eastern

Expect noisy rock n roll of epic proportions and mournful morning after ballads

8pm - The Bedford Incident

Hailing from Sheffield The Bedford Incident draw on a cosmos of diverse influences. Fusing together the energy of guitars, bass and drums, with science fictionesque synthesisers, sharp-witted lyrics and heartfelt orchestration; this five piece create uplifting, out of this world sounds, aptly once reviewed as "sounding like Jarvis Cocker fronting The Flaming Lips", and “writing the best songs coming out of Sheffield right now”. Over the past 18 months Jamie (vocals & guitar), Kirsty (guitar), Laura, (keyboard & vocals), Alex (bass) and Stephen (drums) have been busy honing their spirited and memorable live act throughout the North of England and further a field, including a performance for Alan McGee at his famous London club night Death Disco, culminating with a live session for BBC Radio. Jamie and his fellow cosmonauts have been forging “Joyland” The Bedford Incident’s new album to be released on Sci-Fi Records and setting course to play through the UK to promote it. As well as their own album they are also featured on US label 24 Hour Service Station’s release “Ceremony: A New Order Tribute” featuring; The Cloud Room, Detachments and many more released in March 2010 to admirable reviews – “Ceremony's roster is a varied and impressive list of bands, with music that will uplift all those that listen to it.”

9pm - Dark Sparks

Dark Sparks are a band of five young men from Sheffield. Musically in tune we write dark pop (master) pieces that are occasionally violent and always emotive.

Words are incredibly important and we like nothing more than firing out a tirade of bitterness to a roomful of wide-eyed faces.

10pm - Century Kids

Century kids are a five piece Sheffield band with a unique sound, from their massive lead guitar sound to their catchy, solid Basslines and unique drumbeats. Having two lead singers gives them an edge which will take the scene by storm, coupled with a loyal fanbase, century kids are a band that’s making some noise in Sheffied.

11pm - Late - Pseudo 54 meets Tramlines

Helping us kick start the festival vibe and fresh back from his travels, showcasing his first ever Pseudo54 appearance we are happy to present no stranger to the Sheffield music scene:

Lucian O’Neill (AKA The Colonel)

Ans a Pseudo 54 original, the magnificent Chris Feinmann (Resident / Development, Manchester)

Expect all the usual (or unusual) shenanigans at Sheffields friendliest DISCO / SOULFUL HOUSE affair. And with that intimate vibe that we’ve all grown to know and love, we can’t wait to celebrate in true 54 style.
