Stereo fitted by Halfords has stopped working - no receipt

I bought a stereo a couple of months ago from Halfords and paid to have it fitted by them, it has all of a sudden stopped working though. It still plays CD/radio/MP3 player but theres either no sound at all, or you can hear the music but the vocals are very faint. The speakers are brand new and they're wired up properly so I know theres nothing wrong with them so it must be the stereo. Problem is though, I can't find my receipt, will I still be able to go back and get them to refit it without being charged?

You don't need a receipt. Proof of purchase is useful though. If you paid by card, take your statement in. If you paid cash, ask them to trace the job. Be polite, but insistent if they try to fob you off and you will succeed.

I paid on card so I'll be able to print the transaction off my bank account.

they can search through their system if you can get a date you purchased it, also they will test it on their test board to see if its the stereo. u get 12 month warranty but after 28 days they are sent away for repair
